Figure Lore
Look of Figure
The Sith Trooper is molded in either Cherry Red or licorice black plastic. There are also black paint apps on the red parts for color accuracy.
There is so much texture here! There are fine lines imprinted all over the red armor. These help break-up the standard shininess of the trooper armor. The exposed under suit also features the typical ribbing lines. Hasbro has molded lots of random greebling like pouches, armor clasps and circle indents throughout the figure.
This figure has no battle damage or printing, only paint apps. The paint apps here are pretty good with my only slop being a few dots in the helmet ridges.
The Sith Trooper looks awesome! I had some reservations about the bright cherry red being too shiny. However the texture provided by the lining dulls down the shine and gives the trooper an intimidating aura.
Articulation
The head has some tilt side-to-side and forward-to-back. I can feel a ball joint at the top and bottom of the neck, but I can’t get him to articulate there…
The trooper has a single hinge-and-swivel at the elbow and only gets 90 there. Swiveling the forearm in or out can alleviate that limitation.
Contrasting the limited elbow, the shoulder joint does rotate all around and even features a butterfly joint! The pauldrons are glued at the upper foreman so they can be cajoled up and out of the way of the shoulder-torso joint. A Rubber-like material is used to aid “squish-ablity” here, so just be wary that they don’t get deformed in prolonged poses.
There’s a up-and-down trigger finger on the right wrist and an in-and-out holding hand on the left.
There is no waist articulation but a fantastic ball joint in the upper torso. You can crank the ab-joint here in any direction you could want!
There is an upper-thigh swivel nicely hidden by the leg armor. The thigh joint itself is on a ball joint and go very far up or out at the crotch section. Even better, the belt is made of a soft plastic so the thigh armor just pushes it out of the way whenever they collide!
The knee is double-jointed, with either POA achieving a 90 bend. And when using them together…
He can kick his ass, no problem!
The foot is on a hinge-and-rocker that allows him to go Where. Ever. He. Wants!
This figure is a dream to play and pose with!
My personal frustrations was with a Lose right upper-knee joint and a warped right foot and that stupid neck joint. And even with those issues, the Sith Trooper was so much more fun that Fox ever was to pose!
Accessories
The box contains two blasters for the trooper to wield, the ST-W48 blaster and the F-11ABA heavy blaster cannon. The F-11 fits better into the trooper’s hand, so I tend to use that in poses.
Both weapons are well detailed with very nice black and silver paint apps all over the weapons.
There seems to be a slot molded into the right leg to fit a weapon. There’s also a peg jutting off the ST-W48 and F-11, nut I’ve yet to get either weapon to hang here.
So I’m going to say the figure can’t carry his weapons without holding them in his hands. My first disappointment with the figure!
Comparisons & Height
The Sith Trooper rings in at 6 & 1/8 inches. This seems a bit tall from official references (1.8 meters or 5’ 9”) but feels right for a Sith based Stormtrooper, especially when comparing to other characters.
Here's the trooper next to Kylo Ren and Commander Fox:
And for some fun heres the 6" Black Series Sith Trooper next to his LEGO Mini-Figure:
While the lore and look of the trooper didn't initially hook me, the awesome articulation has prevented me from put him down! I keep breaking him out of the display and making him strike some dynamic-ass poses! I'm hoping more figure are more like the Sith Trooper than Commander Fox. Here's to hoping!
